After my website was hacked, I was able to resolve many issues by following the suggestions I found on forums and in documentation. I deleted all fake customers and administrators, installed Wordfence and ran a scan, among other things. However, I am still unable to resolve the problem with the administrator email. I accidentally changed it to a generic address (ad@example.com) that doesn’t exist and I now I cannot change it back without approval from the previous email. How can I correct this issue?

How can I change the administrator email on my website after it was hacked, if the previous email requires approval and I have changed it to a non-existent email?

There are two scenarios to consider:
1. If you want to change the email address shown in the “SETTINGS > GENERAL” area, you can modify it directly in the “OPTIONS” table of the database. This table is often available in your web hosting account through PHPMYADMIN.
2. If you want to change the email address associated with a specific user, you can update it directly in the “USERS” table of the database. This table can also be accessed via PHPMYADMIN in your web hosting account.
